The FBI has arrested a Metairie man who admitted viewing child pornography over the Internet and saving the images to his home computer, authorities said Friday.
Two agents interviewed Terence Rhodes, 66, while executing a search warrant Thursday at his home at 3812 Lime St., according to an affidavit filed in federal court by agent Leonard Carollo. Rhodes told Carollo and agent Robert Basanez he had "a little bit of an obsession" to view child pornography but did not realize it was a crime, according to the affidavit. When told it was, Rhodes reportedly responded, "You got me on that one."
Basanez found more than 500 child pornography images on two zip discs taken from Rhodes' house, according to the affidavit.
FBI spokeswoman Sheila Thorne said agents arrested Rhodes at the FBI's field office in New Orleans on a charge of knowingly receiving child pornography. He made an initial appearance in federal court Friday and was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending another hearing Monday, Thorne said.
