Cops: Staten Island teen sodomized with broomstick

This isn't the typical story you will find here..

This story involves a bunch of teens..

So why did I post it?

More than one reason...

(1) I almost had heart attack when I read the headlines.. see my two cents after the story to understand that.

(2) Kids are OUT OF CONTROL .. and in MY OPINION it's because of the system in place to kidnap any kid that gets a slap so he/she will walk a straight line, from the "child protective" workers, to the judges that sit on boards of adoption agencies.. Oh yeah.. ya didn't hear that one? Hmm google it ...

(3) This is a tragedy.. this kids life will never be the same!

A 14-year-old boy is in the hospital with severe internal injuries after he was sodomized with a broomstick in a backyard in Staten Island's New Springville community, allegedly by another teenage boy, police said.

Joseph Lavalle, 16, of Great Kills, was arrested Friday evening in connection with Tuesday's incident and charged with first-degree aggravated sexual abuse and assault. Law enforcement sources said there could be more arrests.

The 14-year-old, whose name was not released, was sodomized in the backyard of a residence on Klondike Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, as the victim, the victim's brother, Lavalle and several other teens were hanging out, according to court documents and sources.

The victim suffered a perforated rectum and must wear a colostomy bag, police said in court documents, and last night remained hospitalized at Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton, where he is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the damage.

"They meant it as a joke, just playing around. They didn't mean for it to go as far as it did," said a neighborhood teen who wouldn't give her name.

Lavalle's mother, reached by telephone last night, confirmed that her son told her the assault was initially meant as a joke, but referred all other questions to an attorney. She added, "it wasn't just my son," before hanging up.

Lavalle's attorney, Richard Kopacz, did not return a phone call yesterday. Lavalle was arraigned Saturday at Stapleton Criminal Court, where a judge released him on his own recognizance but imposed a 6 p.m. nightly curfew.

A spokesman for District Attorney Daniel M. Donovan's office wouldn't say what provoked the assault, but said the case is still under investigation and did not rule out more arrests.

Neither the victim nor Lavalle live at the Klondike Avenue home; they were there visiting other friends who do live in the first-floor apartment of the split-level home, sources said.

A teen standing outside of the duplex, wearing a Yankees jacket and pajama bottoms and smoking a cigarette, walked away when approached by a reporter and wouldn't answer any questions.

The owner of the Klondike Avenue residence said the family who lives there have been model tenants in the about six years they have resided there, and was shocked to hear of the allegations. She first heard about the assault when a police detective called her on Friday and said they needed to check the backyard where the assault is alleged to have occurred.

"My tenants are with me a long time and they're really nice people," she said. "Who would ever believe that kind of thing could happen? ... I'm just really shocked by it."

The sexual abuse charge Lavalle faces is the most serious possible for the nature of the crime, and carries up to 25 years in prison. Lavalle is due next in court on Jan. 15.

My Two Cents -

THIS STORY IS OUTRAGEOUS!

I still get news from Staten Island because that is where my kidnapped children (S.U., Dawn Uccio, Louie Uccio and Nick Uccio) live with their kidnapping politically connected father and his side kick who apparently has the connected name - Aggie Panepinto! Connected to whom? Ohh I don't know.. but it's interesting that the estranged husband is also working for Joseph Panepinto the Director of CYO who by the way happens to be married to Supreme Court Judge Barbara Panepinto...

Anyway .. as I was thinking.. reading the news papers is the only way I know what might be going on with my children.. (yeah the estranged husbands political connections have eliminated me from my children's lives both legally and emotionally through PA/PAS..

Once again back on track.. I read these headlines and a KNOT the size of the moon forms in the pit of my stomach! What if.. this story is MY KID ..

These m)*^%$ fu))*&%s must pay.. so every day I pray for justice such as them getting hit by a bus or a lightening or something equal to that.. but then I pray they live ... LONG MISERABLE LIVES just like the way they have me living!

More horror stories from the Staten Island Advance concering kids.. what the hell is going on out there?

This is horrifying and it started as a joke??? Since when did sodomy and sexual assault become a joke? I can't even imagine how such perversion can be confused as a "joke". And when did they realize it went too far? When the police came? They didn't mean it to go so far. Just what prevented them from stopping? They wouldn't say what provoked the assault, what could possibly be justifiable provocation to such a horrible abuse?

This complete lack of any moral sense is truly frightening.

As for politically connected, I know what you mean. It is way too common these days and is more befitting of a third world country than the high standards we should expect here.

Our county continues to have federal investigators busy with the corrupt officials here, including my judge's brother who's house was raided at dawn. My divorce judge has moved from the "worst court in the state" (according to our State Supreme Court) to another branch of the judiciary. His theft in office and neglect of duty should have earned him a prison cell, not another judgeship.

But when a gov can attempt to sell a seat in the Senate, the most powerful body in the country, and still be in office, then you know ethics in government is extinct.
