Hartsdale man charged with sexual abuse of 3 year old

PORT CHESTER -

A 27-year-old Hartsdale man is accused of engaging in a sexual act with a 3-year-old, police said.

Saul Peralta of 8 East Hartsdale Ave. was picked up Friday near his home after the mother of the little girl made a complaint against him the previous day, police said.

Peralta is accused of molesting the child at her Port Chester home on April 23, Lt. James Ladeairous said. Investigation by police and Child Protective Services also uncovered that he had inappropriately placed the child, with her dress raised, on his clothed lap back in Dec. 2006 when she was 2 years old.

Peralta was charged with first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree sexual abuse, both felonies.

Police said the mother got suspicious because of how Peralta would jump whenever she came into the room when he was alone with the child. She reported the incidents to Child Protective Services which brought its investigation to police.

Peralta, police said, is also subject to a do-not-release order from federal authorities who are investigating his immigration status. He is due in Village Court May 12.
