Teen Girl Faces Child Pornograpy Charges Over Nude Photos

A teenager from New Jersey has been arrested after she uploaded 30 nude photos of herself to her MySpace page, and is now facing child pornography charges.

The 14-year-old girl had posted the pictures to a social networking site "because she wanted her boyfriend to see them," a police spokesman revealed.

Authorities arrested her after receiving an online tip-off about the images, which could have been viewed by anyone who ' befriended' her on MySpace.

MySpace has not commented on the incident, but has a team that reviews content uploaded to the social network.

The girl, who has been released into her mother's custody, faces up to 17 years in jail if convicted of possession and distribution of child pornography.

She could also be placed on a state register of sex offenders.

"We consider this case a wake-up call to parents," News.com.au quoted the police as saying.

Now, how in the hell do you propose to destroy this girls entire LIFE from this point on for such a serious offense as child pornography and make her register as a sex offender for posting HER OWN DAMN PHOTOS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Was there a serious dropping of the ball as far as parental supervision...yes. Was there a serious lack of thinking this action through in posting these for her boyfriend in such a way that everyone could see them, not just him...yes. Are there several other issues to be addressed as to why children of such young ages are so sexually active...yes. But for God's sake, 17yrs in jail and the label of sex offender is ENTIRELY out of line! Also, I'd like to see more on what is being done to myspace for allowing such images to post. I understand so many people can do but so much but, as a myspace account holder, I happen to PERSONALLY know of about 25 pages I can think of just of the top of my head that have sexually explicit images, links to sexually explicit material, or are being used for outright prostitution! What's being done about that? I reported someone (who btw had even been on the local news for prostitution AND had had a craigslist posting removed for inapropriate usuage before...) for such a thing and her page is up right now to this day but this poor girl, who I'm sure is embarassed out of her mind by now and surely regretful, who in my mind is only guilty of the poor choice to use such a public method of posting such private information, may be facing jail time? How backwards is THAT???
