The Salt Lake Tribune

A freelance television sports producer arrested at Salt Lake City International Airport last summer on child pornography charges is back in custody.

The man was picked up in June after authorities allegedly found nearly 50 DVDs and videos on his laptop computer of juvenile boys performing sexual acts, 2News reports.

He was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on numerous counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and drug possession, but a judge released him on several conditions, including one that stipulated he not use a computer, according to 2News.

He was arrested again Monday after admitting to using a computer.

His next court appearance is May 1.

A freelance TV producer, who was arrested at Salt Lake City International Airport after child pornography was found in his luggage, is back behind bars.
On Monday, a federal magistrate judge found Kevin Stewart McMahan violated the conditions of his pre-trial release and ordered McMahan to be taken into federal custody pending the outcome of his case.

Last June, McMahan pleaded not guilty to two counts of possessing child pornography after being arrested at the airport. McMahan was in Salt Lake City to cover the NBA playoffs for ESPN and ABC. He was arrested while trying to board a flight to California after police say they found hundreds of images of child pornography in his luggage, including some as young as 8 months old.

The images were discovered because airport security discovered a lighter that had been left in his carry-on luggage.

McMahan was ordered released from federal custody pending trial but with certain conditions. Among those conditions was restricted computer use.

In a hearing Monday, federal prosecutors alleged McMahan had accessed a computer. U.S. District Magistrate Judge Paul Warner found McMahan to be a danger to the community and ordered him detained.

Federal prosecutors would not say what it was McMahan accessed on a computer.
